Lucky Enough is our 2008 Regal 2565 cabin cruiser and our first step into cabin cruising on the Rideau Canal.
We chose this boat because it struck the right balance between size, simplicity, and comfort, and it fit within our budget. It is large enough to be comfortable for day cruising and short stays aboard, while still being straightforward to own and operate. A single engine, along with familiar systems, kept things intentionally simple for our first cabin cruiser.
The layout mattered to us. The companion seat positioned to the side, the open feel created by the express windows, and the inclusion of both air conditioning & heat made the boat feel practical rather than cramped. Features like the bow thruster add confidence when maneuvering in tight spaces, which is especially relevant on the Rideau.
The boat also came with a comfortable number of hours and a strong reputation as a Regal, known for solid construction and thoughtful layouts. Just as important, Lucky Enough has been kept at Len’s Cove Marina since day one. Knowing the marina already knows the boat, and that it has been consistently maintained there, was reassuring. The previous owners clearly took great care of it, and that shows throughout.
This page documents the boat as we learn it, how it is laid out, how its systems work, and how we use it in practice. It is not a technical manual or a sales brochure, but a clear, honest reference built from real use and experience.

We are not experts. We are learning, and Lucky Enough is how we are doing it.
