Bravo III: What It Is

What Is the Bravo III Outdrive

Our Regal 2565 is equipped with a Bravo III outdrive, a twin counter rotating propeller sterndrive designed to improve control, efficiency, and low speed handling on mid sized cruisers.

Unlike single prop drives, the Bravo III uses two stainless steel propellers spinning in opposite directions. This design reduces steering torque, improves straight line tracking, and delivers stronger thrust at low speeds. The result is smoother acceleration onto plane and much better control when maneuvering in tight spaces such as locks, marinas, and fuel docks, which is especially valuable on the Rideau Canal.

Another major advantage of the Bravo III is reduced prop slip, which translates into improved fuel efficiency compared to older single prop sterndrives. The added grip in the water also allows the boat to remain on plane at slightly lower speeds, improving comfort and efficiency when cruising in mixed conditions.

Docking confidence is a standout benefit. Combined with trim tabs and our bow thruster, the Bravo III provides excellent responsiveness in reverse and at slow speeds, making close quarters handling far less stressful for a cruiser of this size.

The Bravo III is a strong match for boats like the Regal 2565 that balance performance with comfortable cruising. It delivers predictable handling, solid reliability, and the level of control that makes day trips and short cruises more enjoyable and relaxed.

Built by MerCruiser, the Bravo III fits well with how we use Lucky Enough, whether cruising slowly through no wake zones or running just up on plane on open stretches of water.
